Farmer Feldarbeiter bei der Arbeit, Salatkopf

Rabo Foundation

For forty years, local banks within the Rabobank Group have contributed a portion of their income to the Rabo Foundation. The foundation grants loans to small-scale farmers and related organisations, with the aim of helping people to help themselves. The goal is to improve their economic situation in the long term, and to establish their financial independence as agricultural businesses.

Rabo Rural Fund

Around the globe, more than a billion people live in extreme poverty. Three quarters are dependent on agricultural activity in developing countries. These people produce more than 80 per cent of their own food, but often struggle to secure adequate funding. Their businesses are too large for microloans, but regular bank loans are beyond their reach. The Rabo Rural Fund aims to give these farmers and agricultural cooperatives access to funding, networks and knowledge. As a result, the fund promotes sustainable economic development, raises the incomes of small-scale farmers and contributes to greater food security.

Rabo Partnerships

Rabo Partnerships

Within the scope of its development aid projects, Rabobank Group maintains alliances with regional banks in a number of countries. We advise these partners on how to best evolve into modern financial service providers. They are then better placed to support local farmers and to help them develop profitable businesses.
